The Mission

At Wayhome, we’re reinventing homeownership.

Many of us are locked out of homeownership because of restrictive mortgage lending rules and/or because we lack the necessary deposit to purchase the home we want (even though we can afford to rent it!). Wayhome has recently launched its Gradual Homeownership product in partnership with Allianz Global Investors. But this is only one of several products we are looking to launch to help aspiring homeowners over the coming years.

Our friendly team is comprised of Investment Experts, Quantitative Analysts, Data Scientists, Property Specialists, Engineers, Account Managers, and Creatives; and we’re backed by some of EU leading Fintech VC’s. We believe in helping people overcome one of the biggest and most life-changing problems they face: how to obtain the security and freedom of homeownership.

We offer

Remote working

For the foreseeable future, we’re optimising for the majority of our team to be working remotely, coming into the office for key meetings or workshops only. We have a (dog friendly) office in central London if you're unable or don’t want to work from home, or just prefer the buzz of a coworking space, but we're keen to provide an experience that works for everyone.

The current situation is a bit of a change for us, but we’re growing into this new remote reality together - if there is a specific way you want to work or you have particular requirements, let us know: we're always open to discussing it.

The Team

You will be working as a part of a diverse and brilliant Investment Team, full of proactive and thorough individuals. The wider Wayhome team is super talented too and you will be working closely with them on a regular basis - COVID-19 has temporarily interrupted our ability to get together and have fun, but we are still doing what we can to connect and collaborate.

The Role

We are looking to grow our Investment Team, and bring in someone who will help take our underwriting to the next level. You'll help us fine-tune and automate our credit and affordability assessment process to keep our pipeline moving, identifying and solving any issues that arise from in-house processes, as well as working closely with third party providers and making sure we have everything we need to assess the customers that we can buy homes with that work for our customers and our investors.

We have our own custom processes to assess applicant(s) for their credit worthiness and affordability that we are looking continually to improve and automate and to make the entire underwriting process seamless, thereby improving the customer journey.

Core Responsibilities

  • Follow and ensure all aspects of Wayhome’s credit and affordability policies are following including AML and KYC

  • Day to day management of the underwriting process including interacting with the Customer Support team to ensure we have the appropriate information needed

  • Relaying complex, or non-standard cases to the Credit Committee for review

Job requirements

What you’ll need

  • Excellent mortgage (or other retail credit) underwriting experience

  • Ability to adapt and adopt a pragmatic approach to underwriting

  • Track record of running, improving, and automating affordability and credit processes

  • Ability to work confidently within a team and independently

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail

  • Sound judgment and the ability to make decisions / problem-solve, supported by clear rationale

  • In depth knowledge of financial services industry

  • Experience of working with credit reference bureau(x)

Hiring Process

  1. A member of the team you will be working with will review your CV. If we don't progress you at this stage, ask us why - we don't offer feedback on every CV by default due to the volume but we're happy to provide feedback if asked

  2. A 15-30 minute initial phone call to find out more about what you’re looking for in your next role and team, as well as giving you the opportunity to ask about us and the job

  3. A more in depth chat about your knowledge, experience and motivations and diving into more detail about the role itself.

  4. There will be a task, which we send to you beforehand and book in a session for you to walk us through what you've done. This will help give you an idea of what the role will entail, while giving us some insight into how you solve problems and your work preferences

  5. For our final stage, you’ll have a couple of other calls to meet the team you’ll be working with, and ask any additional questions you might have about the business or working at Wayhome. We'll be able to be more specific about these closer to the time but these are really to get a better understand of how you'll work with the team and all of the ways you can contribute to our culture.

End to end this process shouldn't take more than a few weeks, although we're open to being flexible if you require a shorter or longer timeline. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK as we are currently unable to offer sponsorship.
